Good speech lead
While Americans are less racist than we used to be, we are not post-racial, even in the age of President Barack Obama, said prominent activist Cornel West at Purdue on Friday afternoon.
West, currently a professor at Princeton University, spoke on the question “Does race still matter?” to hundreds of people in Elliott Hall of Music.
According to West, issues about race, gender, class, and empire still exist in our culture.
“Black people, red people, brown people, yellow people and white folk are race, too. They matter. They count,” said West, with enthusiasm.
